George Odhiambo “Blackberry” and Meddie Kagere for the second time in as many matches were on target as Gor Mahia extended their lead in the Kenyan Premier League after beating Sofapaka 2-1 in Kisumu on Wednesday.
The two players had been on the mark in the weekend when Gor hammered defending champions Tusker 2-0 in Kericho
It was a sweet revenge for K’Ogalo who look headed for their 16th league title. Gor Mahia lost 2-0 to Sofapaka in the first leg.
Odhiambo opened the scores in the 9th minute from a shot outside the box but Sofapaka was to equalize in the 40th from Umar Kasumba who headed a Rodgers Aloro cross.
Kegere however handed Gor all the points five minutes after Jacques Tuyisenge had fluffed a penalty awarded following a tackle on Francis Kahata in the box. Kagere headed home a cross from Ugandan Godfrey Walusimbi in the 58th minute.
Gor held on to then final minute and are now comfortably on top with 57 points from 26 games, Sofapaka have 42 from 27 games.
At the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, Mathare United and AFC Leopards played to a barren draw.
