Sofapaka’s chase for the Kenyan Premier League title suffered a jolt on Wednesday at they fell to Ulinzi Stars.
The 2-1 loss they suffered to the soldiers means Gor Mahia can extend their lead at the top of the league if they beat Chemelil in Kisumu on Thursday.
Cliff Kasuti’s 52nd minute header off an Oliver Ruto goal gare the soldiers the lead and Samuel Onyango added the second at the hour mark from a Kasuti initiation. Umaru Kasumba pulled one back for Batoto Ba Mungu after a delivery from Willis Ouma at the 67th minute.
Elsewhere Stephen Owusu came off the bench to help Tusker FC return to winning ways with a 2-1 win over visiting Zoo Kericho at the Ruaraka grounds.
Tusker’s took the lead in the 52nd minute courtesy of Humphrey Mieno.
Zoo were to equalise in the 70th from second half substitute Wilson Andatiw ho had just been introduced five minutes earlier for Da Namasaka.

Ingwe had been on a surge after beating Tusker (1-0), holding Gor Mahia (1-1) and beating Zoo Kericho (3-0) but it was not to be the same in Awendo where Sony Sugar has always been stronger against them.
