Origi back in Stars squad as Okumbi calls up team for friendlies


Norway based goalkeeper Arnold Origi is expected to make a return to the national team Harambee Stars squad after being drafted by coach Stanley Okumbi.

Should he accept the call,he will be making a return to the team after over one year absence.

Origi last played for the national team in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Guinea Bissau but has since been left out by Okumbi.

In his absence, Gor Mahia’s Boniface Oluoch has taken the number one role.

But Okumbi has called Origi who plays for Lillestroem SK for the upcoming international friendlies against Mozambique, Togo and Mauritania.

Captain Victor Wanyama of Engilsh side Tottenham Hotspurs heads the list of foreign based players to report to camp on August 27. others are Jesse Were, Anthony Akumu and David Owino of Zambia side Zesco together with Cliftone Miheso and John Makwatta from Zambia’s Buildicon. China based Michael Olunga and Ayub Timbe also make the list.

At the same time Okumbi added new faces in the previous list of players he had called.

Kenneth Muguna of Gor Mahia and Ulinzi’s Stephen Waruru are the key players he has included. There is also Gor Mahia goalkeeper Peter Odhiambo and Farouk Shikhalo of Posta Rangers.

Kariobangi Sharks midfielder Partilla Omotto also makes a comeback.
