Gor Mahia coach Dylan Kerr has shifted his focus on the next two matches he believes will define Gor Mahia’s season.
K’Ogalo beat Muhoroni Youth 2-1 in Kisumu in the weekend with goals from Timothy Otieno as they extended their lead at the top of the Kenyan Premier League table to 40 points, six ahead of Sofapaka and Posta Rangers who played to a one all draw Chemelil Sugar.
The 15 time champions play Rangers in the midweek before taking on bitter rials AFC Leopards in the weekend.
“Obviously, we are now done with Muhoroni Youth and the focus is on the upcoming two matches in the next seven days,” said Kerr after he watched AFC Leopards mercilessly hammer lower league side Wazito 7-1 in the GOTv Shield quarter final match at Nyayo on Sunday.
“These two games are crucial for us for the mere fact that Posta Rangers are not very far from us while on the other side, AFC Leopards are considered the arch-rivals,” he stated.
Kerr who took over the reins at Gor Mahia in June is unbeaten in four league matches and has propelled the record Kenya champions to the top of the league table.
“We have to continue working hard. There is still a long way before we can start celebrating but I am impressed by the way the boys have been working hard in training. They are giving their all and working hard to get a chance to play and as I have said in the past, there is no monopoly in wearing the jersey, each and every player deserves a chance but that chance only comes from their commitment in training,” Kerr said.
